I’ve got another book-lined hallway for you today, this time with a rolling ladder. I am a relatively responsible adult but even I can’t help looking at that ladder and that nice, smooth stretch of hallway and wondering how fun it would be to roll down…I blame the bookshop scene in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast for this particular fantasy:

I see the rolling ladder and the fairly low balustrade over the staircase and I see an accident almost waiting to happen … I’d not want to fall backwards off the top of that ladder … but very nicely organised … if one was very careful! Or perhaps, if you did fall, you’d merely land on the floor of the landing! I certainly hope so!
The first few times I went to Nicholas Hoare in Toronto I admired the rolling ladder from afar. Now I just go for it!
That Beauty and the Beast scene with the rolling ladder did the exact same thing to my brain. I know you can’t do that wheeeeee thing that Belle is doing in the picture, but I yearn and yearn to. If I did that one day I would know my life was perfect.
My middle name is Clumsy. I can only imagine the scenes I would play out with this rolling ladder, none with the beauty of Belle. What a fun post and lovely library today, Claire.
ooooh – I’d just hold on tight. What a GORGEOUS hallway!
LOL! I’m not sure I’d ever get my kids off of it (or their daddy, for that matter). 🙂 Love it.
Charming library but I would be very afraid of a fall. Such nice use of the space for the young and brave!
